This is the cover for my college magazine cover. I think that it is effective and clear. I have used a harmony of colours to make this a good cover. I chose the sky as the background as this is a calm and reserved. The post-it notes and scrap paper links with the idea of students with these objects playing a big part in their studying. I have used alternating colours for the text as this makes it stand out and highlights the articles. Although the picture of the student is on the right side it is still big enough to attract the reader. Also this image can help show a group idea of hard-working students at the school. I have used the college logo to emphasize the fact that is the college magazine and attract students of the college. I have placed the sentence about it being the 'official' magazine of the school to make the magazine look a bit more formal to retain the college's academic reputation. I have used this colour scheme to link with the college's logo and attract the reader and college students.
I think the best part of this cover is the way the text is set out on the post-it notes and the way it is highlighted. I think that the way the text has been laid out could be improved by making it look like it is written on the post-it notes. Also I like harmony of colours and that, apart from the oranges, are quite neutral colours. These oranges then stand out and catch the readers attention. I think that the lighting in this image could have been improved as it is not very clear where the lighting is coming from. Apart from the lighting though I think that this is a good quality image as I was fortunate to be able to use a good camera.
In this task I have learnt how to use photo shop to create a visually aesthetic magazine cover.
